Potty Training

While I was downstairs clipping online coupons for our big grocery trip my oldest yelled down to me, "Mommy, I'm potty training Ellie!"  Naturally I ran to see what disaster awaited me.

I wish I had taken the time to grab my camera.

As I climbed the stairs I could see my youngest naked as the day she was born trying to get herself up on the toilet while her big sister was coaching her along with words of encouragement.  "That's right, Ellie, sit on the toilet.  You're doing a great job."

I decided to help.

From under the cabinet I pulled our good old potty chair.  Little Ellie sat her pure white hinny on the edge of the seat.  "No, Ellie, you need to sit all the way on the potty chair!" exclaimed Abby. "Here I'll show you what to do."  So big sister pulled down her pants and demonstrated.  Ellie quickly caught on.

Abby decided to take it one step further and get up on the toilet to show Ellie exactly what would happen while sitting on the potty chair.  Strained she informed me, "Mommy, I think I am going to poop now." (sorry TMI?)

While Ellie did not potty at that moment she did tell me over and over, "POTTY!"   Then she would grab more toilet paper than necessary and wipe herself.  "I WENT!!"  (something Abby yells to this day even though she goes to the restroom independently.)

The girls had a fine time washing their hands saying, "All clean!"

There was one problem though.  Ellie did NOT want to put back on her diaper.  Maybe it is because I am lazier with my second child, but I didn't feel like fighting.  I took her potty chair into my bathroom so I could keep an eye on her while I finished getting ready.  However, instead of sitting on the chair she wanted to stand on it and wash her hands again.

That's when "she went."

All over herself, the cabinet, tile floor, an the grooves of the potty chair.

I guess I am entering potty training child 2.  I forgot how fun it is...

Sewing

 Our adorable fabric!!
Grammy's pouf seat for the girls!
Not an easy project.
However, it is by far the cutest little seat I have seen (even better than the ones on Pinterest)
Grammy is talented!!

I've been dying to make bunting flags for the playroom.
With some help from Grammy I was able to sew the flags myself!  This is my first sewing project, and without Grammy there to help me along I never would have been able to do it.

LOVE the final product!

Productivity

This is what I call a productive day.

Getting my girls' haircuts

Stopping by Ace Hardware to get paint
(and gummy bears)

Enjoying the outdoors and visiting with Nina and Papa for lunch

And last, but not least, painting Ellie's bedroom!

Go me.
(okay I had some help with the painting)

Resting spot

Sometimes when it is really quiet I'll go searching for the girls and find them here...
 ...on the stairs...

 resting.
Ellie is the length of a step.
Cute.
Pretend snoring she picked up from watching Snow White.

Grocery Store

It might sound strange to some, but my weekly trip to the grocery store is one of my favorite things to do with my kids.  I guess I feel like a real mom doing this task that mothers have done with kids for generations.  Hey, it's a chance to shop, be out of the house, learn a few things, spend time together, and accomplish something at the same time.

Sometimes it's really fun, like when we go to Trader Joe's!
Uh, Abby is disinfecting her shopping cart.
(She is definitely my daughter.)

Love

This is one of my favorite pictures of the girls.  They were just sitting nicely playing together and looking super cute doing it.

Before and Afters!

Kitchen chairs makeover

I'm very pleased with the results of this project.  Thank you for the help Grammy and Pa!
(and my dad for his staple gun)

$17 for the vinyl thanks to some coupons at Joann's

The front porch makeover

Before
Notice the old rusty looking light fixtures that did not match the basic silver door knob.

 Ewww!
 Also on the garage

So instead of spending at least $40 each to replace them, Adam and I spray painted them!  I think they turned out really well.  It only cost us $10!

AFTER!
The new door handle was a splurge, but it makes the front door look better.

While Mommy and Daddy were transforming the house, the little girls had fun splashing in the yard!
